The call of the open road…screams summer. My five-year-old daughter, Cora, is currently reading Amelia Bedelia “Road Trip,” and she totally gets it. Last summer we drove from our home in Southern California to San Francisco, stayed a handful of days and then drove on to Pocatello Idaho to visit with family. As romantic as taking a road trip is—and believe you me, I love it—the practicalities of getting from A to B with kids in the car can drive any parent nuts. There are indeed shortcuts you can take to ensuring your road trip is a successful one.

We take road trips of various sizes multiple times a year and have gleaned several tips on how to stay occupied in the car, even if we only have one kid who can’t fight with anyone else in the back seat. Join us (Colleen Lanin of TravelMamas.com and Katie Wood Dillon of LaJollaMom.com) for our next #KidsNTrips Twitter Party as we share a truck load of family travel road trip tips from how to save money on a road trip and the best road trip activities for kids to my favorite topic, the best road trip apps for parents and kids.

Why The American Express EveryDay Credit Card is Great for Road Trips

All you need to know is that Tina Fey is endorsing it. Enough said, sign me up. Wait, you need more reasons that than?  No problem. I’m excited about the American Express EveryDay Credit Card because:

  1. You can earn Membership Rewards points that can be used on future trips. And what’s better than one vacation? Two!
  2. If you use the Amex EveryDay 20 times in a billing cycle, you get a 20% bonus on the points you earned. Bonus points are a good thing!
  3. The American Express app makes it easy to keep track of those points.
  4. You can book your trip through amextravel.com and pay with points or partially with points, transfer points to airlines, or use points for a wide range of gift cards and certificates—including hotel stays, car rentals and more.
  5. All this for no annual fee!

Restrictions

Must be 18+ to win. Open to U.S. residents only. No purchase necessary to win. Prizes will be awarded to three lucky #KidsNTrips Twitter Party participants. Winners will be chosen at random and notified via Twitter shortly after the party. Read additional prize terms and conditions.
