LAS VEGAS: 3rd Night Free at Luxe Mandarin Oriental

There are a lot of different ways to find a luxe room in Vegas. But no standard room in town defines pampered sophistication like the Mandarin Oriental. This five-star hotel usually has rates in the high $200s, if not well over $300. So, whether you’re a regular fan of the Oriental or you’re giving their luxury a try for the first time—this is Vegas deal you don’t want to pass up. “Extra Fun Day Away” — Stay three consecutive nights and the third night is free until September 5, 2013.

Dates August 25-28

TESTED: I found Strip view rooms on the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas website available for an average of $176/night on a Sunday – Wednesday near the end of August. If you wanted to stay over the weekend, August 23-26, the rooms were only a little bit more for an average of $183/night. They don’t say the word average – but that’s what it is. The rooms actually start at $265/night and when you add it all up (including the third free night) and divide it by three, that’s how you get to the $176. An additional $25/night resort fee is added on to the bill plus 12% tax. The total for all three nights including taxes and fees came to $677. If you did not check this deal in the “Offers” section of the website, the price for the same room on the same nights would be $806 including taxes and fees.

TIPS: The Mandarin Oriental is located within  the CityCenter and is a LEED Gold certified property. Don’t miss the Mandarin Bar on the 23rd floor for stunning views of the Strip. And if you can squeeze it in—make sure to get a treatment at the Mandarin Spa. It’s sexy as all get out.

IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER: Would you like to save more money at the same hotel? Book your stay through Travelocity. When I looked at the same exact dates August 25-28, Travelocity had the same third night free offer—but they had access to the City View rooms. These only cost $143.35 per night vs. the $176. If you’re happy changing your view to save a little more, give it a shot. However, Travelocity did not include the resort fee into it’s grand total of $478.84.

Let us know if you’re able to take advantage of this deal! We want to know what you love about the Mandarin Oriental.

LAS VEGAS: Cheap 4-Star Hotel Deals for Labor Day Weekend

GoldenNugget_rushtowerBOOK ASAP | has a whole bunch of hotel deals right now. I started digging around for Labor Day weekend, but modifying it just a little bit since I don’t know if I’d rather fly or drive to Las Vegas for Labor Day. Holiday weekends are never a great time to drive to Las Vegas but in my experience it’s not that bad if you can travel during times when the masses are not. Leave a day early, stay a day late, etc. Here are five great hotel deals that look good to me. But I always want to go to Vegas, Baby!

Dates Thursday, Aug. 29 – Sunday, Sept. 1.

1) Palms Place Hotel & Spa |  25% OFF + $25 food credit. | Average $166.75/night
I tested this deal for the dates Thursday, Aug. 29 – Sunday, Sept. 1. The total cost for a Studio room those three nights was $390.88, but it did not include the $20/night resort fee that they take at Check-In. The Palms (on the casino side of the property) offered a 45% off rate with a free room upgrade and breakfast, but the average rate was $164.47–higher than the Palms Place which is the non-casino property just across the parking lot. BOOK BY JULY 28 for travel through February 28, 2014. Minimum two-night stay.

2) Treasure Island | 35% off + Mystere Tickets | Promo Average $103.05/night
OK, there are a lot of hidden fees here…be careful. I tested this deal for the same dates—Thursday, Aug. 29 – Sunday, Sept. 1. The $103/night rate is just for the Deluxe room at 45% off. If you want a deluxe room with two queen beds the rate changes to $113/night. If you want the 35% off AND Mystere tickets then the cost will actually be an average of $121.87/night or a total cost of $409.91. That price includes tax but not the $25/night resort fee the hotel charges at check-in. Guests will get one Mystere show ticket per person up to two people per room. If you are bringing a child they will add a third person fee. BOOK BY JULY 31 for travel through February 24, 2014. Three-night minimum required.
